Joseph Sambito, Mary Schiavetta, and Howard C. Vogts were the first to be placed on the Wall of Fame at the Bethpage High School athletic complex. The induction took place on July 28, 2013.

Joseph Sambito, Class of 1970, was an All-County baseball player and an all-division football player. An All-American baseball player at Adelphi University, he was also drafted by the Houston Astros in 1973. Joe was a member of the 1979 National League All-Star Team and participated in the 1986 World Series with the Boston Red Sox.

Mary Schiavetta, a triathlete from the Class of 1979, was named All-County in basketball, field hockey and softball. Mary went on to play basketball for Syracuse University, and later earned her PGA membership in 1996. Mary is currently one of the top golf instructors in Florida.

The late Howard Vogts was honored for his years of dedication as Head Football Coach of the Golden Eagles. Under his leadership his teams amassed 35 League/Division Titles, 16 County Titles, 5 Long Island Titles, 10 Undefeated Seasons, and 3 Rutgers Cups. He is now (2013) New York State's "Winningest" Football Coach with 364 victories.

Fran McCall - Football & Lacrosse Coach; The 1972 Bethpage Football team that won Nassau County Champions; Joseph Disanza -Teacher/Coach won man of the year twice; Debbie Dorsch-Fringuelli Class of 1986, 4 sport athlete and multiple MVP award winner; Kathy Shearer - Class of 1979, 5 sport star athlete and one of the greatest of all time. 2017 Wall of Fame - Anne DiPrima earned her place on the honorary wall as a pioneer for interscholastic sports at the middle school and high school levels since joining the district in 1970 as a teacher and a coach.

"The Three Amigos" Thomas Cilmi, Frank DeCicco and Vincent Valenti exemplify the meaning of a Golden Eagle pride as a strong supporter of the high school football team with their attendance at every game - home and away.

The 1971 High School men's track team of 1971 was named the top team in the state by the New York State Scholastic Track Association coached by Fred Meder. (Information from the BETHPAGE TRIBUNE-JULY 27, 2018)


2019 INDUCTEES TO THE WALL OF FAME - From the BETHPAGE TRIBUNE August 2, 2019

Fran Brown - 1978 Graduate - A four-sport athlete and represented the Golden Eagles in field hockey, volleyball, basketball, and softball. She was part of many league and divisional championships in volleyball, basketball, and softball in addition to being captain and the most valuable player of the county champion field hockey team. She went on to play volleyball at Slippery Rock University.


Samuel Prioleau - Teacher, Mentor and Coach in Bethpage for 35 years. He holds one of the highest winning percentages on Long Island as a baseball coach and led the Golden Eagles to a county championship. Under his guidance, the junior varsity football team achieved many undefeated seasons. As a mentor, he encouraged students to fight for what they believed in and made them believe they could accomplish anything.


Harry Settino, Jr. - Had a positive impact on many student athletes during his 23 years in Bethpage. He was "jack of all trades" by coaching varsity football, varsity baseball, girls varsity track and field, and boys varsity bowling. He also went on to officiate basketball and baseball in addition to being a Nassau County lifeguard supervisor.


Donna Weikman - Symbol of excellence for the Bethpage girls bowling program for 43 years with 400 compiled wins, 21 conference championships and two county championships. She began her careen in Bethpage in 1969 as physical education and health teacher in addition to her role as coach. She coached the field hockey team for 17 years that included five division championships, six conference championships and three county championships. She also led the badminton team for 28 years with a total of 312 wins and 11 conference championships.
