Burmester, George and Burmester family

George Burmester told how his parents, Anna (Lackert) Burmester and George Burmester moved to Central Park around 1928 and built their home on the Plaza (behine St. Paul's Lutheran Church and across from the Beau Sejour Restaurant). George attended Powell Avenue School then Farmingdale High School and entered the service in 1944. He worked for Grumman for 44 years and retired to Spring Hill, Florida in 1985 with his wife Edith of 60 years. George and Edith had three sons.

My maternal grandmother Anna (Miller) Lackert lived on Harrison Avenue, and my father's mother, Augusta (Stumpel) Burmester, lived in various locations in Central Park/Bethpage during her lifetime. She also lived on a beautiful waterfront estate in Weems, Virginia, setting the stage for the migration of most of the Lackert clan and their families. These included Margaret (Lackert) Myer, Frank Lackert (summer home), and Fred Lackert who bought the Burmester's Weems estate. Later Marge (Myer) Page retired and established a permanent residence in Weems Virginia followed by Dorothy (Lackert) Messemer.
