Bretton Bowl

On December 9, 2007 the community of Bethpage celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the Bretton's Bowl. An annual football game which is played to raise money for needy families in our community during the holiday season and all year long. The event is run by the Bethpage Community Foundation. The founder, Gary Bretton, was congratulated by Nassau County Legislator Ed Mangano, at this event, for twenty years of making a difference in the lives of others through this game.

On December 10, 2017 The Bretton Bowl celebrated, raising funds, for 30 years providing funds to help those in need have a brighter holiday and beyond! Many volunteers deserve thanks for year after year making sure this game will take place with special thanks to Gary Bretton and his family, founders of the game, Rev. Sal Bennardo who starts the game each year with a prayer; referee, Tom Frost, who has not missed a game; "Joe G" who announced the entire game for many years; The Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 82 who have been with the game since it started; Madison Buttice singing the National Anthem; all the children who participated in the event.
