Jerry grew up in Hicskville and relocated to Bethpage when he married Roberta and where they raised their seven children. He was CEO of the family fuel oil firm, Consumers Service located in Hicksville, served as Bethpage Water District Commissioner for almost 30 years, active in the Bethpage Fire Department for over 50 years, as well as, a longtime member of the Elks, Knights of Columbus and St. Martin of Tours Parish.

During his three decades as our water commissioner he provided clean, safe, drinking water for the best price and had the reputation as a knowledgeable and trusted authority on issues related to public water supply. He held the position of president of the Nassau-Suffolk Water Commissioners Association, a member of the prestigious Utilities Council of American Water Works Association, and was an active participant in the matters of Long Island Water Conference.
