Dr Charles and Madelon P Baulknight

Dr. Charles Baulknight and his wife Madelon lived at 19 Romscho St. for nearly 40 years. Dr. Baulknight, with advanced degrees in Chemistry and Physics, was recruited by Grumman in the early 60's and was instrumental in helping expand Grumman's part in the space program. He specialized in fuels which powered the Lunar module's first takeoff from the moon and earth reentry. Mrs. Baulknight was a very active member of the Levittown First Presbyterian Church. She was active in the PTA of the Waldorf School in Garden City. She and Dr. Baulknight were both active in the Nassau County Democratic Party. She was a member of the Nassau County Youth Board, and worked in an advisory capacity with county-wide groups of youth seeking to unify young people across racial and religious lines. Madelon, was widowed, died September 9, 2002 at Marietta Memorial Hospital in Ohio.
