Di Gesu Johanna

Johanna Di Gesu, pianist, who for many years has been a resident of Central Park, was solost at the concert of the Nassau Philharmonic on Saturday morning, at the Rivoli Theatre, Hempstead. She played as her contribution t to the program the "Ballade in G Minor" of Chopin.

Miss Di Gesu, who received the highest rating for advanced students of the piano in the recent auditions conducted by the Philharmonic, has been a student of Harold Lewis of Manhattan, for five years.

Two years ago she gave a recital in the auditiorium of Farmingdale High School and it was enthusiastically received. She had recently played the "Bach Concerto" with a stringed quartette at a a recital at the Lewis studios, before a distinguished and attentive audience, that included many of the familiar figures in the metropolital musical world.

Professor Lewis predicts a brilliant future for his puple.

An outstanding feature of her technique is the fine tone quality, and wealth of musical contrast in her playing. She is twenty years old, and of Italian parentage.
