Jones, Weyman B. (Sandy)

Weyman was born in Lima, Ohio and reared in Tulsa, Oklahoma. As a child he was taught to read by the family Chrokee maid, due to being sickly. Yet, in high school he was a wrestler and earned a full scholarship to Harvard. He did a stint in the Navy, then on to a string of corporate communications jobs at IBM, Kennecott Copper, and Xerox. He joined Grumman in May, 1976 in the position as vice-president for public affairs, settled in Centerport, and derailed a hostile takeover attempt by Dallas based LTV. Weyman left Grumman in 1991 to retire and to his writing of novels and fishing. He was married to Marilyn, who passed on in 2017, he was proud of his daughters Lynn and Paula, and his three grandchildren. Weyman passed away June 9, 2019 at the age of 91.
