Damm, Robert

Killed in W.W.II in mid-October 1943. Bob was a radioman on an Army Air Corps B-17 bomber. His plane crashed in Louisiana. Bob, a boy scout, portrayed Thomas Powell in the name change to Bethpage celebration. Street named for him off Harrison Avenue.

Robert was born to Theodore and Charlotte Damm. He also had one brother and sister.
He joined the Army Air Corp. at the beginning of the war. He was part of the aircraft crew. On take off the plane exploded on a Army air field in Texas ( above it states Louisiana ?). Robert was about 20 years old.
He is buried at St. John's Cemetary in Levittown.
A bronze plaque to honor Robert L. Damm and Raymond Caffrey is at the base of the American Flag on the front grounds of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Bethpage.
