Mr. Scherer was born in Germany and came to this country in 1900 living in Brooklyn he met his bride, Annie. In 1914 they moved to Central Park and rented a home on Central Avenue for $8.00 a month. They eventually moved across the street to a home on the corner of Central Avenue and Scherer Street (which is still standing in 2000).

Mr. Scherer had a masonary business for years until the sons, Walter and Arthur took it over in 1947 under the name, Scherer Bros. Masons. Mr. Scherer did the stone work and other masonary work on St. Paul's Lutheran Church and his sons did the stone work and other masonry work on the parsonage.
