John and his wife Anne of 43 years, moved to Bethpage in 1968 from Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. From 1989 to 1999 he owned Bethpage Sports Center on Stewart Avenue, Bethpage. In the late 70's John was involved with Saint Martin of Tours CYO Soccer Club and active in the Bethpage Rotary Club, Bethpage Chamber of Commerce, Long Island/Big Apple Volleyball Club, assists with fundraising for the Bethpage St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee, and now lends his expertise to the Bethpage Tribune. His work experience includes 28 years of international sales, mostly in a management capacity after being discharged from the U. S. Navy in 1960. John Eastwood, selected as 2009 Grand Marshal of St. Patrick's Day Parade. The son of an English father and Irish mother (nee Finnegan) John grew up in an Irish section of Queens and considers himself Irish especilly on St. Patrick's Day.
