− | Michael, a lifelong Bethpage resident, along with his wife, Betty (RN) of 55 years, both graduates from Bethpage High School, active in the Bethpage Community where they raised their children, Laura, Michael, Carol, and Lisa. Michael was proud Air Force Veteran, active member of the Bethpage Fire Department for 60 years, joined the department on December 8, 1959; assigned to Engine Co. 2; became 2nd Lieutenant in 1969, 1st Lieutenant in 1970, Captain in 1971 to 1973; where he held the title of Assistant Chief then to Chief of the Department in 1983. Mike was elected to the Board of Fire Commissioners from 1987-1992. He was also involved with the Fire Police Unit training and the Committee and the Hazardous Materials Decontamination Team. In 2007 received an Outstanding Firefighters Award from Nassau County, and he was also awarded The New York State Assembly Firefighter Achievement Award. Once retired he responded to both fire and EMS aid calls and assisted in any way he could.
