Maya Maciel-Seidman, Bethpage High School Student, is proud to be honored as one of 40 winners, nationwide, and the only one from New York State for an award that recognizes young women in computing and technology. Maya was selected from more than 4,700 applicants for the distinction to receive the Award for Aspirations in Computing from the National Center for Women and Technology. Maya has also achieved: placing first in the environmental engineering category of the Long Island Science & Engineering Fair; the winner of the FIRST Dean's List Award at the FIRST Robotics Long Island Regional Competition (FIRST stands for "For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology". She is a member of her school's National Honor Society and a robotics team at Melville. (Information from NEWSDAY 9/20/2020)
