Early in 1955 the Jewish Community in Bethpage joined together and held their first meeting in member's home.  Then the Assembly of God Church on Stewart Avenue was made available to the community.  As membership grew the need for additional space was evident.  Land was purchased at 600 Broadway in 1957 and on April 24, 1960 the Jewish Temple was dedicated.

Rabbi Kenneth D. Poplack was appointed spiritual leader of the Bethpage Jewish Community Center, announced by Leon Carlen, Congregation President.

Rabbi Poplack had previously occupied pulpit of Congregation B'nai Jacob in Phoenixville, PA, for the past eight years.  Where his primary responsibilities included the post of principal and teacher in the congregational religious school, director of the adult education program and supervisor of teenage activities.  He also instituted the school curriculum and directed the faculty.

With Rabbi Poplack a proven organizer, supervisor and administrator the congregation eagerly awainted his arrival with anticipation of a long and fruitful relationship. The Rabbi and Mrs. Poplack reside at 26 Caffrey Ave. with their two children, Yosef 10, and Naomi, 8.
