April, 1962 the property on Stewart Avenue between Benkert Street and Burkhardt Avenue was sold and the Bohack Shopping Center was constructed plus 30 other stores. There were concerns regarding the duplicating of services with the existing merchants on Broadway, but Bethpage needed its own supermarket. Since 1962 there have been several supermarkets at this location, and today (2007) we are proud to have a King Kullen super market servicing the people of Bethpage. There has never been a conflict with the merchants on Stewart Avenue and Broadway, as the community of Bethpage grew so did the need for stores to serve them.
