He is the eldest son of Mrs. Ruth Altmann and the late G. Emre Altmann. Emre is a graduate of the Bethpage School, being graduated in 1931 while he was a student in the 7th grade. He has the distinction of being the only pupil who ever graduated from the 7th grade, being allowed to take the 8th grade regents and finish with the highest honors. He next entered Farmingdale High School and graduated from same in 1935. Then entered Nassau Collegiate Centre at Garden City where he finished the two year course that was given at that time. He then enrolled at N.Y.U. where he took a night course.

He became associated with the American Tel & Tel Co., in New York City in 1937, where he made rapid advancement in various positions until his business career was interrupted by the outbreak of war.

He was one of the first youths of the community to enter the Armed Forces, leaving in June 1941. Shortly after entering service he was selected to attend Officers Training School at Fort Monmouth where he was graduated as a Second Lieutenant. He then became connected with the Signal Corps and was promoted to First Lieutenant while serving on active duty in the European campaign. While in the Signal Corps he was in charge of a Radar Division in the battles in and around Germany. He received a Honorable Discharge in March of 1946 at which time he had risen to the rank of Captain.

After leaving the Army he returned to his former position with the A.T. & T. and is now a Junior Executive of that corporation. He completed his education at nights at N.Y.U. and graduated from same in June of 1947 receiving the degree of Bachelor of Science.

He married the former Ruth Ebisch and has one child, who will attend school in September.

He resides on Third Street and owns his own home.

He is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
